Neo Guanabara

Cyberpunk Tropicalia

Neo Guanabara is a fully feature role-playing game with all you need to play in one book.

Its genre as it is proudly displayed on its cover is the elusive "Cyberpunk Tropicalia".

Expect martial arts, bizarre super 'heroes', marginalized protagonists, and a campaign system that makes the titular fictitious Latin American city evolve, grow and struggle.

The Setting

A city-state created by the elites for a social experiment, where Transhumanists live forever as gods and the marginalized people live among the refuse from said system, caught in the intersection between despair and hope.

Play as a 'Stalker', a super-powered mercenary that was born in said gutter and that stands to oppose said system, fighting to shape Neo Guanabara into a better place.

Or so, this is what appearances tell you.
The truth about this character of yours is that they are free to shape the city with their actions as they see fit. Just be careful not to attract too much of the ire and attention of those who are running the show...

The System

Neo Guanabara uses a dice pool system where you grab different dice attributed to your character's sheet that are relevant to a scene, you roll them all together, keep two as value and one as 'the quality of the roll and with that, the world is your oyster.

You can create complications, advantages, you can rip out cybernetic implants from your foes mid-combat, you can dispel a strange meta magic in the field, so on and so forth.

Beyond combat and checks, the 'debate' system streamlines crucial and game-changing social scenes to include every player in the table to contribute in one single mega roll, which decides the flow of the story.

Then we get the diceless investigation system that exists to evoke the noir-like tendencies often associated with Cyberpunk with strategy from the part of the players.

The Campaign

The player characters for Neo Guanabara are strong, powerful, seek fame and fortune, and have the power to shape the city's future.

Instead of your standard 'experience' and character progression, every bit of gameplay mechanics is mostly a 'side grade' - true progression comes from 'cashing in' Fame and Renown points accumulated through play to advance the story and change the city in a pro-active manner.

This way, players have a more direct approach to impact their cyberpunk existence, deal with gangs, security, and even systems of governance.

Game Features

● A crossover of the Superhero genre with Cyberpunk on a fictitious Latin American city.

● A focus on cybernetic martial arts and strange powers, not on guns or firepower.

● No experience system, use fame and renown to alter the city and evolve the setting, not just your character.

● Combat is fast, tactical, and fatal. Player characters can defeat entire armies of bandits, security forces, and all kinds of crazy gangs. Just don't get overwhelmed! One good swing from that mob of NPCs is good to end most Stalkers...

● Players can be proactive and unlock city-wide 'events' and even cause a dramatic and unexpected 'campaign finale'.

● A political meta-game happens within the campaign system. Which justice will emerge at your table? Will your players co-operate, convince each other, or silently shape Neo Guanabara to their whims?
